ADOPT A BEACH

FROM SAND TO SEA

There’s something special about Freshie. The salty air, the rolling waves, that feeling when your feet hit the sand. But it takes a village to keep our beach looking and feeling this good.

That’s why we’re proud to get behind the Adopt A Beach program, run by our mates at Surfrider Foundation. On the first Sunday of every month, locals come together to give Freshwater Beach some much-needed TLC.

It’s community action at its best. Just three clean-ups in, and the impact is already huge. We’ve seen a real shift in the health of the beach, with loads of rubbish cleared from the dunes and shoreline. Less waste, more good vibes.

Each month, volunteers are finding things like bottles, cans, cardboard and styrofoam balls. There’s even been some broken glass showing up, which makes it a hazard for everyone who loves this spot, including our local wildlife.

Our partners at Surfrider are keeping a close eye on what’s being collected and working on ways to tackle the waste at the source. It’s all part of their mission to safeguard our oceans, waves and beaches and we’re backing them every step of the way.

This is more than a clean-up. It’s about community, connection and conservation. We want to keep the ocean magic alive for everyone. So come on down, lend a hand, then cruise back to the Harbord Hotel for a cold one. First drink’s on us to say cheers for looking after our beach.
