Cosmo’s Midnight are wrapping up a solid year with a DJ set at Harbord for NYE. Our first release is live now, $35 tickets includes a FREE Belvedere cocktail on arrival. Get ready, it’s going to be a hugey.

Known for pushing genre boundaries since their debut in 2012, twin brothers Cosmo and Patrick Liney have cemented themselves as one of Australia’s most celebrated music acts, boasting 225 million streams, five Gold singles, and unforgettable performances at festivals like Splendour in the Grass and Laneway.

We had a chat with the duo before party, where they reflected on their biggest “pinch-me” moments of 2024—including a standout London show—and share insights into their creative process, summer holiday plans, and who they’re expecting to top their Spotify wrapped for 2024. From their favourite drinks to backstage rituals, we get a glimpse into what makes this duo tick, both on and off the stage.

Why are you excited to wrap up the year at Harbord Hotel?

We rarely get the opportunity to wrap up the year in Sydney so we’re so happy to be in our home city djing in Freshie.

What’s been your biggest “pinch-me” moment of 2024?

It would have to be our show in London this year, it was absolutely immense. There have been so many small and massive moments this year its so hard to pick, but amazing shows will always take the prize!

What artists are you expecting at the top of your Spotify wrapped this year?

Mkgee, Disclosure honestly its always something super random and yearrrs old so can’t wait to find out.

Where do you go to find/seek inspiration?

To the beach, overseas when we’re touring. Also just listening to as much different music as possible.

High rotation – What album are you vibing right now?

I’ve been listening to Nu Genea – nuova napoli alot recently its so warm summery and light and sounds so classic for an new group.

Tell us a little about how you like to warm up before a gig?

Being as active and social as possible, ideally have a few friends backstage with a few drinks. I find isolation just makes me more nervous.

What drink is your go-to when you go out?

Palermo, a little bitter, a little sweet, a little boozy. That or a negroni, it’s warming in winter and refreshing in summer.

High, low, ha - what’s your highest moment, lowest and the funniest from 2024?

Highest moment was releasing our third album ‘Stop thinking start thinking’. We’re so proud of the writing we did and it really made us more confident in trusting ourselves as musicians. As usual the lowest moment is getting stuck in Dallas Airport, it happens to us almost everytime we go to the USA, pleeeease don’t happen again. Funny moment was seeing Jack Johnson in Manilla after we played a festival. I was obsessed with him growing up and it was cool to finally see him, as expected he is super chill.

High, low, ha - what’s your highest moment, lowest and the funniest from 2024?

Something most people don’t know about the Aussie music industry?

People may or may not expect this but everyone knows each other in Australian music and there are no secrets. It feels like such a tight knit community where everyone wants to see each other succeed.

Summer Holiday spot – where are you going and what are you doing?

Mollymook beach on the south coast of NSW. I’ve been going there for almost 20 years since we were wee babies and it will always be a home away from home.
