Save the waves | Annual beach clean-up

SAVE THE WAVES 2024

WE’RE CELEBRATING THE 12TH ANNIVERSARY OF FRESHWATER AND MANLY BEACH BEING A DEDICATED WORLD SURF RESERVE.

This year we’ve partnered with our good mates at Surfrider Foundation Australia and Freshwater Brewing Company to put on a special community event focusing on protecting our beautiful ocean. As an ocean friendly certified venue, we are passionate about protecting Freshie Beach, our little place in the world that we call home.

Together with Surfrider Foundation we hosted our annual community beach clean up at Freshwater beach to celebrate the 12 year anniversary of Freshwater-Manly beach being a dedicated World Surf Reserve (WSR), where we removed buckets of micro plastics and debris from entering our ocean. This year we removed…

– 14.7kg of mixed trash

– 120 bottles (recycled on the day at Harbord Hotel!)

– 14 plastic takeaway containers

– 1 large exercise ball

– 1/2 surfboard

– 1 handbag

– 5 pieces of clothing

Post clean-up, we kicked off the tunes at Harbord Hotel, to raise funds for the amazing work Surfrider Foundation do in our community. We sank a few cans of Freshie Pils by Freshwater Brewing Company and snacked on lots of yummy food while listening to local legend, Hein Cooper.
